Election will not stop at any cost: UCPNM Chairman

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that no force can obstruct the happening of the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election scheduled for November 19.



Addressing a mass meeting at Thankot of Kathmandu District Constituency No. 10 on Sunday, Dahal said that no force can go against the CA election as it was the national necessity. He also warned that existence of the forces would collapse if they go against the CA poll. [break]



"The only option to end the political deadlock is election. People will boycott the poll disturbers. They even cannot foil the election," Dahal added.



The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman also urged all the agitating parties to join the election process without putting any rider.



The former prime minister further said that the High-Level Political Committee made maximum efforts to bring the CPN-Maoist-led alliance for talk with magnanimity but the agitating parties construed the sincere efforts as the weakness, impeding the talks process.



He, however, said that the chances of consensus have not ended. "I have continued efforts to bring them (agitating parties) on board," Dahal informed.



Saying that the earlier CA failed to promulgate the new constitution due lack of two-thirds majority for the progressive forces, Dahal urged the people to give a clear majority to the UCPN (Maoist) in the upcoming CA election.



On the occasion, coordinator of the UCPN (Maoist) Kathmandu District Constituency No. 10, Shankar Dulal, said that the role of the locals was vital to make the upcoming CA election a success.



Likewise, the locals informed the UCPN (Maoist) Dahal about the problems of the local level and urged the former prime minister to take initiative to address their concerns.
