KATHMANDU, Nov 29: Durga Prasai, coordinator of the “Nation, Nationality, Religion–Culture and Citizens Protection Campaign,” said preparations are underway for formal talks with the Prime Minister regarding the demands put forth by his movement.
Speaking at a press conference in Bhaktapur on Saturday, Prasai revealed that during his meeting with the Home Minister on Friday, he had clearly outlined the campaign’s demands, and it was subsequently agreed that a dialogue with the Prime Minister would take place soon.
He stressed that these demands are not personal, but articulated on behalf of the public, and claimed the government has begun taking them seriously.

Prasai’s demands include removing small and large entrepreneurs from the banking blacklist, stopping demolitions against landless squatters and scrap-yard workers until long-term alternatives are provided and raising the salaries of the army, police and civil servants.
He also reiterated his calls for a referendum on reinstating a Hindu state, abolishing the provincial system, and restoring the monarchy.
Prasai warned that if the demands are not addressed, the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 would not be possible.
Reaffirming that the movement has not backed down, he said the campaign would pursue a stronger wave of protests if the government fails to respond with the seriousness he expects.
