Drivers of 40 high-emission vehicles penalized

The traffic police have urged all drivers to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained and in good condition, warning that vehicles emitting excessive smoke contribute to air pollution, pose serious risks to human health, and increase the likelihood of road accidents.

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: The Traffic Police have taken action against the drivers of 40 vehicles found emitting smoke beyond permissible limits.



A joint team from the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and the Department of Environment conducted inspections at Thankot on Sunday. It penalized drivers whose vehicles were found to be exceeding emission standards.

Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi said that out of 60 vehicles inspected, 40 were found emitting excessive smoke, and their drivers were penalized accordingly.
