KATHMANDU, June 19: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Friday demanded a parliamentary investigation into alleged corruption, EV customs irregularities, budget information leaks and controversial policy decisions.
Speaking in the House of Representatives, RPP parliamentary party leader and lawmaker Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi accused the government of losing transparency in key decisions and questioned its intent in handling tax and customs matters, particularly related to electric vehicles.
Committee formed to probe budget leak remains idle
He called for an impartial parliamentary probe committee into alleged EV customs irregularities and the leakage of budget information before its official announcement.
Shahi also questioned the Prime Minister’s role, claiming that vehicles from customs were held at the Prime Minister’s Office for two weeks despite no irregularities being proven.
He further criticised the government over remarks on the Nepal–India border and accused it of imposing an additional financial burden on citizens through health insurance cuts and VAT on electricity.
Concluding his remarks, Shahi said RPP would continue its anti-corruption campaign even if it stood alone.
