KATHMANDU, Oct 21: Dashain is the time when all employers, professionals and employees go on almost a weeklong holiday, taking a break from their hectic schedule. For many, it provides time to get together with their families, while for others it is a period to sail away to rendezvous with friends and travel around.

Still other set of professionals use this holiday to relax and recollect themselves for upcoming busy schedules over next one year. [break]

In this context, Republica chatted with a number of entrepreneurs and professionals on their plans for this festive season. Here is how some of the corporate bigwigs are celebrating their holidays.

Anal Bhattarai, Banker (CEO, Commerz and Trust)

The best thing about Dashain for me is the free time. During the hectic schedule, it´s very difficult for professionals like us to manage time for personal things. I love spending time with family, but works at office always keeps me too busy to do that. So, this Dashain, I will busy myself amid family and relatives. I recently went to Darjeeling to bring my son for the festive season. I will enjoy time with him. Each day during Dashain, I shall be visiting relatives or inviting them at home. So, I have no plans for shopping or traveling around.

Shekhar Golchha, Managing Director, Him Electronics

Kathmandu is really peaceful during Dashain. So, I always like the peace and festive radiance that engulf Kathmandu during Dashain. But, this time I am going to Germany along with the family. I will be spending two weeks there. Last year, I had been trekking. The kind of activities I do may vary, but at the core it is always the same - being together with the family and enjoying with them. After all, festivals are always best when spent with family.

Yogendra Shakya, Tourism entrepreneur

I have grown up watching people flying kites and slaughtering animals during Dashain.

Coming from a Buddhist family, my Dashain is always peaceful with no slaughtering. Although I come from Ason which is also know as centre for Kite-flying I have simply observed others flying Kites and I love doing that. For me Dashain is a ritual thing and it´s a perfect time to get together with family and relatives. But, this time I will not be celebrating as I am mourning the demise of my Aunt. Usually, during Dashain I want to stay home with family and friends and follow rituals rather than traveling abroad.

Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, Vice-President FNCCI

Being the eldest in the family, my first priority in Dashain is the traditional and religious rituals like offering pooja, worshiping goddess, visiting temples and others. Besides, my priority is to spend full time with family members as I have a hectic schedule even during holidays in other time of the year. I take time to think about creative projects and evaluate works. I also go to office and work at least 2-3 hours although it is a festive time. I make sure I visit my relatives and spend sometime over a drink, dinner or to play cards. At home we avoid spicy food and take normal meal but during Dashain we try varieties of food and drinks.

Chhaya Sharma, President of Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs´ Association of Nepal

There are lots of pending works at home which will be accompolished during this vacation. I just came back from a trip to Tokyo, so I do not have any travel plans. My daily schedule is full of rush and I love Dashain as I can completely relax. My sister is coming from Australia and I am looking forward to spending good time with her. I have finished all my shopping and handed over the gifts too. Shopping for family and relatives always feels good. As I am vegetarian, I will also be trying some new veggie recipe.
