KATHMANDU, Jan 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday declined 10.29 points to close at 2,610.63 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,620.92 points, initially peaked to the day’s high at 2,618.63 points in the first two minutes, followed by a sharp decline to as low as 2,607.15 points within the first 18 minutes. The market then went through a series of fluctuations for the next three hours as it reached the day’s low at 2,604.63 points in the last five minutes. The market recovered around six points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Three groups –manufacturing and processing, hotels and tourism, and trading—were the gainers as manufacturing and processing added the largest of 89.10 points. Of the 10 losers, the life insurance index plunged by the largest of 113.94 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 3.22 points. The daily turnover inclined Rs 5.01 billion from Rs 4.71 billion.
Among the individual companies, 79 were gainers while 171 were recorded as losers. SY Panel Nepal Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 306.58 million.
Nyadi Hydropower Limited had its market values declined by the highest of 4.32 percent. Two companies including Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited were the topmost gainers of 10 percent.
