KATHMANDU, Aug 18: Wrapping up his nine-day long European tour, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal returned to Nepal on Tuesday. Dahal landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He had left for London on August 9 to train his party cadres staying in Europe.
Dahal said that he would intensify parleys with other political parties for a Maoist-led national unity government. Speaking to mediapersons upon his return from Europe tour at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Dahal said that he was encouraged about the prospects of the Maoist-led government.
"The Nepalis and foreigners I met during my tour refused to recognize this government as it is formed without Maoists´ participation," he said adding that he would hold talks with the top leadership of all political parties on the issue," he said. Dahal said a majority of Nepalis and Europeans he met during his visit were of the opinion that it would be impossible to write the new constitution and complete the peace process by excluding the Maoists from the government.
Dahal said that his party would be compelled to launch the third mass movement if the government ignored the Maoist efforts to find solution through talks. He also accused other political parties of disrupting the parliamentary procedures by not allowing the Maoists to bring a resolution motion against President Ram Baran Yadav.
He also argued that it was wrong to blame the Maoists for the delay in formation of the Special committee to supervise, integrate and rehabilitate the Maoist army. It is rather due to the ruling political parties, he claimed. "We had demanded that we should have the participation of more members than other parties in the committee. It is only when they refused that we demanded the position of coordinator," he said.
Accompanied by his son and wife, Dahal also had visited Belarus and Russia.
