Dahal elected as NTUC president

CHITWAN, Aug 28: Khila Nath Dahal has been elected as president of the Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) affiliated to Nepali Congress (NC) on Wednesday.



Dahal who is backed by NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba defeated Puskar Acharya by 65 votes. Acharya is close to by NC President Sushil Koirala.[break]



Similalrly, Ramji Kunwar has been elected as senior vice president of the NTUC whereas Rama Paudel has been elected for the post of woman vice president. However, other results are yet to be announced.



A total of 1561 votes were cast in the election of the NTUC in the Fifth General Convention of the NTUC affiliated to the Nepali Congress organized in Ratnagar Municipality, Chitwan.



Altogether 161 NTUC members had contested the elections for 37-member working committee of the body.
