The agreement comes when the mother and breakaway Maoist parties seem to heading to a fierce confrontation over the ownership of party property. Recently, there had been a nasty clash between cadres of the two rival groups in Chitwan, with both sides staking claim to the party office based in Krishnanagar in the district. [break]
Over two dozen cadres from both the factions were injured in the clash. Two activists of UCPN (Maoist) were injured with gunshots in the scuffle. Police have taken the party office under control following the fight and have also barred cadres of the both the parties from entering the office premises.
Also of late, leaders of CPN-Maoist have publicly been airing statements that they would capture the headquarters based in Parisdanda in the capital. Dispute over the ownership of party property has remained the latest issue following a protracted internal feud that resulted in split in the Maoist party some time ago.
