KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The curfew in Birgunj has been extended to maintain social harmony. The curfew, initially announced until 1 PM on Tuesday, is now in effect until 6 PM in the evening.
The District Administration Office of Parsa had issued the order on Monday afternoon. Since protest programs continued despite the initial curfew, the local administration extended the restriction.

According to the order, all gatherings, rallies, and related activities are prohibited within the area bounded by Buspark in the east, Sirsia River in the west, Gandak Chowk in the north, and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.
During the curfew, essential services and travelers with air tickets have been allowed movement with permission from local authorities.
Authorities have also appealed to the public to maintain peace and harmony, considering the potential for clashes between two communities.
