In an interview, Tejendra Nath Shrestha, managing director of CCD, spaks about the proejct. Excerpts:
Earlier, CCD announced to build a 16-storey apartment block cum shopping complex. Why the plan was changed in favor of standalone homes?
Due to lack of government monitoring, housing and apartment projects mushroomed in the valley outstripping the actual demand. As the customers are preferring individual homes, we have decided to fulfill the demand of the customers.
Among various standalone home projects in the valley, what are the distinctive features of your project?
Our homes have unique and elegant design. They are located at a prime location and are very economical. Besides, we have incorporated water use and energy use reduction system, vertical farming, among others.
As you are into tourism and restaurant business, what made you venture into the housing sector?
Besides being president of Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC) and Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN), I planned to enter the housing sector to make best use of ancestral property. As I found housing is the best business to make maximum utilization of space, I decided to enter this sector.
When will you hand over the homes to the customers?
We are going through the legal process of ownership transfer, which will be completed within a month. Soon after it completes, we will start the construction. We will hand over the homes to our clients within a year.
