KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The decision of the three major political parties -- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML -- and the United Democratic Madhesi Front to go for fresh election to the Constituent Assembly has drawn flak from the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist.

CPN-Maoist, which had been rooting for an all-party roundtable conference, has flayed the parties´ decision, arguing that it would be yet another ´great betrayal´ against the people. [break]

“It is a great betrayal to talk about election without resolving contentious issues of the new statute,” said a press statement issued by the party on Thursday evening.

The party has claimed that it is yet another conspiracy of the parties to hoodwink the public that fresh election would resolve the current political deadlock. “It is unfortunate that the Constituent Assembly was dissolved before promulgating the new statute,” the statement further said.

While asking the people not to fall prey to the ´propaganda´ that all the parties have agreed to go for fresh polls, the party has also urged people to remain cautious of conspiracies against the people and the country.

The major parties on Wednesday had decided to go for fresh CA polls as the parties continued to differ over the contentious issues of the new statute.
