Four years ago, Laxmi Nepali of Tamghas had allowed her widowed daughter-in-law Usha Nepali marry Ashish Kumar Nepali like her own daughter.
In the program organized to felicitate her, Lawmaker Kamala Bishwakarma and Chief District Officer (CDO) Pradip Raj Kandel rewarded the mother-in-law Laxmi and her husband for the exemplary work.
Lawmaker Bishwakarma said Laxmi’s gesture was rare and provided a positive message to the society. She added that others should follow her example and let widowed women remarry.
Laxmi’s son died a year after he got married to Usha. Following the death of her husband, her mother-in-law treated Usha as her own daughter, and even the widow expressed no desire to leave her husband’s home.
“I was worried about the future of my daughter-in-law after the death of my son, so I had decided to remarry her,” Laxmi said.
Following the remarriage, Usha has been leading a happy married life now. She has a two-year-old son and her husband is working in Qatar. She was full of praise for her parents-in-law for letting her remarry.
