KATHMANDU, Sept 10: American ambassador to Nepal Scott H. DeLisi on Friday said that it will be impossible for the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) to continue to operate effectively without full consensus on its role.

Issuing a press release, DeLisi said that the need of the hour is to address the core issues constraining completion of the peace process.[break] He has hoped that the political parties will focus on critical issues and not allow debate over monitoring or UNMIN´s role.

Earlier, British Ambassador John Anthony Tucknott, French Ambassador Jean-Charles Demarquis and DeLisi had met with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and chairman of Unified CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal regarding the future of UNMIN´s mandate.
