The apex court has stated that the conference will be important for Nepal as it seeks to implement the new constitution as well as settle various constitutional disputes. Currently, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, Kalyan Shrestha, is the chairman of the SAARC Law Committee.
Officials at the Supreme Court said that the conference will also be an opportunity for the country to inform the international community about the inclusive nature of Nepal's new constitution at a time when India has imposed a blockade saying the statute has failed to cater to all the marginalized communities.
