The party's Chief Whip Girirajmani Pokharel reached the Secretariat office to file the complaint. Pokharel complained of extensive politicization during the distribution of corrugated zinc sheets to the quake victims and added that the victims were subject to trouble rather than relief.
In the complaint, Pokharel mentioned that during a visit to Nuwakot in course of National Labour and Rebuilding Campaign launched by UCPN (Maoist), he found victims at the receiving end of the quake were denied relief due to overtly politicized distribution of relief materials.
Pokharel has stated that locals at Chhahare in Thansingh-1 seized a tripper (Ba 3 Kha 3844) headed to Kathmandu from the house of a person close to the Finance Minister and carrying dozens of bundles of corrugated zinc sheets with Nepal Investment Bank's logo.
He alleged the government's pledge to distribute relief materials through a one-window system had not been implemented in Nuwakot and that although the Chief District Officer was informed of the situation no action was taken.
Pokharel said he had also broached the subject of seeming irregularity at the National Disaster Management Monitoring and Direction Committee's sub-committee meeting and appealed for an immediate explanation citing the matter was associated with Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat. He demanded the government carry out a serious investigation into the incident. RSS
