Cleaning staff members of TIA ‘found involved’ in gold smuggling

KATHMANDU, April 29: The cleaning staff members of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been found to be allegedly involved in gold smuggling.

KATHMANDU, April 29: The cleaning staff members of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been found to be allegedly involved in gold smuggling. 



A total of 2.332 kilograms of gold was being smuggled via TIA. The cleaning staff, used as puppets, were found to attempt smuggling the precious yellow metal worth around Rs 20 million from TIA last Thursday.

According to the Airport Security Office at TIA, security personnel arrested five cleaning staffers who were trying to smuggle gold, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhim Prasad Dhakal. 


SSP Dhakal shared that two cleaning staff members, a supervisor and two others involved in the smuggling were nabbed, Further investigation into the case is underway.
