Citizens Bank Tennis from Saturday

KATHMANDU, April 8: The Dasharath Rangashala Tennis Complex Management Committee said on Monday that it is hosting the Citizens Bank Tennis Tournament from Saturday at the tennis complex at Tripureshwar. The tournament, supported by All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association and sponsored by Citizens Bank, will feature men´s singles as an open competition. There will also be men´s singles and doubles events in three age groups -- above 35, above 45 and above 55, while the above-65 age group will have only singles event.



Organizing a press conference on Monday, sponsor Citizens Bank and the organizing committee informed that the men´s singles winner will get a cash prize of Rs 20,000 while the runner-up will receive Rs 10,000. Likewise, the winners of singles and doubles events in above-35 and above-45 age groups will receive Rs 10,000 each while the runners-up will get Rs 6,000 each. According to chairperson of the organizing committee Manohar Das Mool, men´s singles is being introduced for the first time in the annual tournament. "We are hopeful that we can add women´s events in the next edition of the tournament," said Mool. Citizens Bank CEO Rajan Singh Bhandari said the bank has been supporting tennis as a continuation of its support to Nepali sports. "We recently supported the national badminton tournament and volleyball tournament held in Mahendranagar. We´ll continue to suppor Nepali sports," said Bhandari.
