KATHMANDU, May 11: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority is afraid to investigate the financial embezzlement that took place when the former Maoist combatants were kept in cantonments and provided with special allowances from the state coffers.
Addressing the meeting of the party's central committee which started from Thursday at the party's central office, Chyasal, Oli asked the authorities not to delay the investigation of the cantonment scam.
'CIAA revived cantonment case to bargain'
He accused that they [Maoist Center] are going to commit corruption again in the name of distributing money to the disqualified fighters.
He claimed that distributing money to party workers when the economy is in crisis cannot be anything other than corruption.
He said that the government of CPN (Maoist Center) is going to commit corruption in the name of discharged fighters by taking a unilateral decision. He added that the CIAA should investigate the cantonment scandal.
