“We have inspected all our equipment and are now ready for operation,” said Udayraj Pandit, industry head, Chitawon Milk. Pandit further added that the company will start operation from mid-January.
Chitawon Milk is a joint venture between Dairy Development Corporation and Chitwan Co-E Pvt ltd. It will produce fat powdered milk, powered milk without fat and dairy whitener. “To cater to the demands of local population, Chitawon Milk will also produce packaged milk, curd, paneer, ghee, butter and other dairy products,” Pandit shared.

According to Pandit, the industry will initially process 50,000 liters milk a day. “We will operate to our full capacity within a year,” Pandit said, adding that the industry will purchase 60,000 liters milk from Chitwan, 50,000 liters from Rupandehi and 40,000 liter from Nawalparasi, Gorkha, Bara, Parsa, Rautahat and Tanahun.
Pandit said the factory will mobilize veterinary doctors and technicians to improve the quality of milk in its catchment area. “We also plan to provide support to farmers to purchase over 2,500 cows and buffaloes of improved breeds,” Pandit added.
The promoters of the company are planning to export powdered milk to neighboring countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh.
