Canyoning festival to promote adventure tourism

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Nepal Canyoning Association (NCA) has decided to promote adventure tourism by organizing canyoning festival.

Aiming at promoting tourism and attracting domestic tourists towards the adventurous sport, more than 100 youths will participate in the sports, said newly elected NRCA Chairman Rajendra Bahadur Lama, adding that it is high time Nepal attracted domestic youths to this adventurous tourism.



"Preparations are underway to hold the festival in any suitable places as Lwanghale of Kaski, Kakani of Nuwakot, Sundarijal of Kathmandu and Bhotekoshi of Sindhupalchok.

As per the Association, a total of 19 falls with canyons have been identified in different districts including Lamjung and Kavrepalanchowk suitable for canyoning. A falls 'Phuma' located at the height of 5,215m in Manang is internationally popular for this sport.

Meanwhile, the general assembly of the NCA held recently has elected Lama as Chair while Kishor Shahi vice-chairman, Devendra Babu Tiwari general secretary, Rajesh Lama Tamang secretary, and Chhetra Bahadur Basnet the treasurer. Similarly, the members are Anu Shrestha, Raju Lama and Santosh Thapamagar. RSS
