At a meeting with Chham Kumari´s family members and relatives on Friday, the hospital authorities agreed to bear all costs for her treatment. They also agreed to return the money that Chham Kumari´s family paid to the hospital for treatment. [break]
Chham, who was admitted to the hospital for throat surgery, was mistaken by doctors for Keshmaya Gurung. Gurung had visited the hospital for treatment of her uterus. The hospital admitting negligence has already formed a committee to probe into the incident.
A medical team led by women cancer specialist Dr Jitendra Pariyar had carried out a surgery to remove Chham Kumari´s uterus on Thursday.
According to Shyam Lamichhane, who was present during the talks, the victim´s family had demanded that the hospital authority bear call the costs for taking Chham abroad for treatment. However, the hospital authorities assured them that her treatment would be possible in Chitwan itself.
Chhami, 32, of Shankarnagar-3, Rupandehi had lost her husband in the Kargil war 12 years ago. She has a 14-year old daughter.
Meanwhile, Nepal Congress, Chitwan, has formed a committee to independently probe the incident.
Earlier, Chham Kumari´s family had warned of strong agitation if the hospital failed to meet their demands.
