TORONTO, Feb 11: Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney said he was “devastated” by Tuesday’s “horrific” shooting in a remote area of western British Columbia that killed nine people and partly targeted a secondary school.
“My prayers and deepest condolences are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones to these horrific acts of violence,” Carney said in a social media post.

Following the tragic incident, Prime Minister Carney is also suspending his planned trip to the Munich Security Conference, his office said.
“Following the tragic news out of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, the Prime Minister will be suspending his planned travel out of the country for the time being,” the Prime Minister’s office told AFP.
Carney had previously announced plans to be in Munich from Wednesday to Sunday.
Nine people were killed in the British Columbia shooting, including seven at a school.
