Nepse had issued 21-day notice to the applicants to renew their applications as it prepares to resume the long stalled process of selecting 27 new stockbrokers in the sole secondary stock market. [break]
The process had come to a grinding halt following the resignation of Shanker Man Singh, the general manager of Nepse, on the last week of July.
“159 aspirants have renewed their application. We will now conduct written test as soon as possible,” Shambhu Panta, spokesperson of Nepse, told myrepublica.com.
Nepse had initiated the process of raise the number of its stockbrokers by 27 to 50 two years ago, keeping in view the expansion of trading and rise in the number of investors.
Karbonn launches new handset
KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Pashupati Trade Link has launched a new model of Karbonn Mobile in the market.

CG to launch new LG handsets
KATHMANDU, Aug 30: CG Impex -- the sole authorized distributor of LG mobile phones for Nepal -- is planning to introduce 10 different premium brands of handsets in the market.
"The company will continue creating an opportunity for its customers to explore new technology and style in touch as the future plan," the company stated in a statement.
LG remains the third highest selling mobile handset brand with a 8.6 percent share in global market, the statement quoted first quarter 2010 statistics from research firm Gartner. The company also informed that handsets in Cookie series are the largest selling LG phones in the country.
G´Five expands its TV series
KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Call Mobility -- the authorized distributors of G´Five mobile phones in Nepal -- has introduced two new sets in its TV series.
E82i is a dual SIM handset with Qwerty keypad. It has HD double camera, 2.2 inch TFT screen, Yahoo, Facebook and Java applications, the company said in a statement.
Q33 is also a dual SIM TV phone with LED torch and metallic cover. The phone also has other features like FM radio, MP3 player and multimedia entertainment, the statement added.
Pepsi, KFC hand over bicycles to Nepal Police
KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Varun Beverages Nepal and Devyani International Private Limited handed over 10 bicycles (7 from Pepsi and 3 from KFC) to Nepal Police. The companies handed over the bicycles as a gesture of appreciation for the service that the Nepal Police has been providing.
Suranjan De, CEO of Varun Beverages Nepal, presented the bicycles to Ramesh Kharel, chief of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, the companies said in a statement.

“Varun Beverages Nepal has grown significantly since they began operations in Nepal and have contributed to the Go Green campaign which encourages the use of reusable cloth bags over plastic bags to help keep Nepal greener,” the statement added. They had also gifted 5 bicycles to the Metropolitan Traffic Police, Durbar Marg, earlier this year.
Varun Beverages Nepal is the manufacturer of PepsiCo Products in Nepal, while Devyani International is operating the international food outlets KFC and Pizza Hut in Nepal.
