KATHMANDU, May 3: Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya is set to perform in New Zealand, just two weeks after returning from a concert in Canada. The band will depart for Auckland on Monday.

The concert will take place on May 10 at the Due Drop Event Centre in Auckland, located on New Zealand’s North Island. This marks Nepathya’s second performance in the country, following its 2017 show at SkyCity Theatre.

According to local organizer Roshan Bhattarai, ticket bookings have gained momentum, with growing interest as the event date approaches. The band is also set to receive a traditional Māori “haka-style” welcome.

Nepathya says it has chosen to focus solely on New Zealand—rather than combining it with an Australia tour—as a gesture of respect to the Nepali diaspora there, whose presence continues to grow.

Lead singer Amrit Gurung said the visit also holds personal significance, recalling New Zealand’s historical ties with Nepal, including Sir Edmund Hillary and his own former teacher Brian Wood.

The band will perform with its regular lineup, featuring Dhurba Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on madal, and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboards.

Tickets are available online through the band’s official website.
