Buddha Air retires ATR-72 after completing 72,000 flight cycles

The Buddha Airline said operating the ATR aircraft through its full service life has created history.

KATHMANDU, March 12: Buddha Air has retired its ATR-72 aircraft with the registration 9N-AJO after it completed 72,000 flight cycles over 16 years of service. The airline bid farewell to the aircraft last Monday.



The Buddha Airline said operating the ATR aircraft through its full service life has created history.

The ATR-72 aircraft had been in operation since July 2, 2010. Over its 16 years of service, the aircraft carried a total of 2,482,772 passengers.


According to the company, the aircraft operated its final flight on Monday from Bhairahawa to Kathmandu.


A flight cycle refers to one takeoff and one landing.


Earlier, Buddha Air had retired its ATR 42 aircraft on September 10, 2024.
