KATHMANDU, Nov 25: British Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Hugo Swire, talked with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kamal Thapa over telephone on Tuesday (19 November). According to a press statement issued by British Embassy in Nepal, they had a positive and constructive discussion.

During the telephone conversation, Minister Swire expressed his serious concerns about the impact of the border blockages on the supply and distribution of humanitarian assistance in Nepal.
Minister Swire urged the Nepal to provide the leadership required for the reconstruction process. He further cautioned DPM Thapa that there is a risk of a second humanitarian crisis if the situation is not resolved shortly with winter approaching.
On the occasion, Swire assured DPM Thapa of the UK’s continued support and friendship for the people of Nepal.
Swire made it clear that the political situation in Nepal is ultimately for Nepal to resolve.
Minister Swire and UK government also expressed hope that peaceful dialogue and compromise will continue, to find an agreed position that meets the needs of all Nepali citizens.
