KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Bibeksheel Nepali Dal (BND) has urged all the political parties to give up bandas and strikes as a means of putting forth their demands.

Issuing a statement on Monday, BND said a single day of banda incurs Rs 2 billion in Nepal apart from obstructing commuters from traveling to their work places.

Given this fact, BND has been standing against all forms of shutdowns and strikes that cripple the country, since its establishment.

The party has been staging protests against every strike at Maitighar and in the main cities of the country chanting slogans, "Banda is not solution, let's seek an alternative to banda. Nepal is open."

BND had gathered at Maitighar at 10 am on August 16 and 17 shouting slogans and holding placards during the general-strike organized by 30-party alliance led by Mohan Baidya.
