Shyam Poudel, the general manager of BJM, said the factory was forced to stop operations after Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) failed to supply electricity regularly. [break]
According to him, BJM has been suffering a daily loss of Rs 250,000 with the shut down. “NEA has assured us that regular supply of electricity will be restored within three days, but that has not happened so far,” said Poudel.
NEA officials had expressed commitment to supply electricity regularly only during the night. The factory used to run during both day and night times. The factory is not using generators for power supplies as they are more expensive.
The factory, which employs over 50 workers, had been producing 10 tons to 15 tons of jute products.
Eastern Nepal is witnessing irregular power supply as works are underway to enhance the capacity of Kataiya transmission line in India.
