The first meeting held in Dhaka in 2008 had decided to endorse the PPA at the second meeting, tasking Nepal with responsibility to present the draft of PPA by incorporating necessary inputs from other member countries.[break]
Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) - the secretariat for the one-day meeting - stated that senior officials from the eight-member regional block met on Sunday to discuss a host of issues on mutual cooperation including technology transfer, capacity building, sharing of experience on success stories of development, trade, tourism, energy and telecommunications before finalizing the draft to be presented at the ministerial meeting.
Yuba Raj Bhusal, member-secretary at the National Planning Commission (NPC), led the Nepalese delegation in the Sunday´s meeting.
Sisir Adhikari, Indian Minister of State for Rural Development, Muthu Shiva Lingam, Sri Lankan Deputy Minister for Economic Development, H.E.U. Tin Naing Thein, a senior minister from Myanmar, Lyompo Wangdi Norbu, Bhutanese Minister for Finance, A.K. Khandker, Bangladeshi Minister of Planning Wan Loop Pring Pong, Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary are leading their respective countries at the meeting. Finance Minster Barsha Man Pun is leading the Nepali delegation at the meeting, which will conclude on Monday with a Kathmandu Statement.
