CHITWAN, Feb 15: Bharatpur Municipal Corporation has been ranked as the best municipality in terms of performance evaluation for fiscal year 2081/82. This is the third consecutive year that Bharatpur has come out first in the evaluation made by the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission (NNFRC).
The NNRFC evaluates the local levels on the basis of 17 different indicators, including the expenditure, arrears, irregularities pointed out by the audit, use of the local consolidated fund management system, periodic planning, and revenue collection.

Among the metropolises, Bharatpur obtained 76.2 percent to come first followed by Biratnagar (73.5 percent) and Lalitpur (66.7 percent) in the second and third position respectively. Kathmandu Municipal Corporation achieved 54.3 percent to claim the fourth position while Pokhara (51.5 percent) and Birgunj (43.1 percent) were ranked fifth and sixth respectively.
Bharatpur Municipal Corporation is also first among the seven municipalities in Chitwan district, with the highest percentage score. The second is Ichchakamana Rural Municipality with 72 percent score.
