MADRID, March 10: On the snow, at a birthday party and with old friends.

That's how three of the best players in the world spent some rare time off this week as Barcelona makes its final push to secure a second consecutive Spanish league title.

With a full week to prepare for this weekend's game against Getafe, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique allowed players to take their minds off soccer, giving the squad two rest days following Sunday's league game. Players only returned to practice on Thursday.

Lionel Messi spent time on the snow in the Andorran mountains. Neymar returned to Brazil to celebrate his sister's birthday. Luis Suarez met with former Liverpool teammates in England.

They will likely be back in action at the Camp Nou on Saturday, looking to help Barcelona win its 12th straight league game and maintain an eight-point lead ahead of second-place Atletico Madrid, which hosts Deportivo La Coruna later in the day. Third-place Real Madrid, trailing Barcelona by 12 points, plays at Las Palmas on Sunday.

Barcelona is entering a decisive stretch that includes the last 10 games of the Spanish league, the Copa del Rey final and the knockout stage of the Champions League. The Catalan club won all three competitions last season.

Luis Enrique is expected to field his top players on Saturday even though Barcelona hosts Arsenal on Wednesday in the Champions League. Barcelona won the first leg 2-0.

Barcelona last played on Sunday at Eibar, when it won 4-0 with a pair of goals by Messi and one by Suarez. It was the team's 53rd match this season. Neymar didn't play because of a suspension and had some extra time off.

The three forwards, who have scored 100 goals in all competitions this season, posted several photos of their break on social media. Messi appeared with his friends and family, Suarez was seen playing video games with Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, and Neymar was photographed partying at a night club.

Defender Daniel Alves posted a photo of his trip to Venice with his girlfriend, while Arda Turan took the time to return home to Turkey.
Here are some other things to watch this weekend in the Spanish league:
___
SAFE STREAK?

Barcelona isn't expected to struggle much trying to keep alive its record 36-game unbeaten streak this weekend against Getafe.
Getafe is fighting against relegation and has never beaten Barcelona at the Camp Nou, losing on its previous visit 6-0 last year. It had lost seven straight league games before salvaging a 1-1 home draw against Sevilla last weekend. Its last league win was in January.

Barcelona's last loss at home happened more than a year ago, when the Catalan club was beaten by Malaga 1-0. It has won 29 of the 32 games at the Camp Nou since then. Its last loss anywhere in all competitions was a 2-1 result at Sevilla in October.
___
DAY-TO-DAY

Atletico Madrid will try to keep the pressure on Barcelona when it hosts Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.

Atletico still hasn't given up hopes of winning the Spanish league title despite the eight-point gap to Barcelona.

"We work every day for the next game. The league is long there are still many games to play, many points to win," Argentine defender Matias Kranevitter said. "We are going to continue along the line that we have been following, training day-to-day and trying to win the next match."

Atletico has won three straight league games.
___
DIVIDED MADRID

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has a difficult task at hand trying to get his players focused on the Spanish league even though the team is virtually out of contention for the title.

Madrid is in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and players admit that winning the European tournament has become the team's main objective this season.

"Everyone dreams about success in the Champions League and we're here to try and make it happen," Zidane said. "For now, we've got to concentrate on Sunday's game (against Las Palmas). It's difficult because we're in a bit of a tricky situation."
___
CHAMPIONS FIGHT

Sevilla hopes to boost its chances of qualifying to the Champions League next season when it hosts fourth-place Villarreal on Sunday.
Fifth in the table, Sevilla can cut Villarreal's advantage to five points with a win.

Villarreal is coming off a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Las Palmas, a result that snapped the team's 14-game unbeaten streak.
Sevilla will play the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
