Organizing a press conference on Sunday in the capital, NSC spokesperson Kul Bahadur Thapa announced its decision to hold the marathon each year. Silwal had died on Friday while Thapa had died two years earlier.
The meeting also took nine other decisions such as to develop nine games -- athletics, wushu, volleyball, badminton, weightlifting, table tennis, swimming, shooting and gymnastic under Chinese modality. Similarly, the meeting has decided to develop cricket, wrestling and kabbadi under India´s modality, taekwondo, boxing and archery under Korean modality and Judo and Karate under Japanese modality.
Clarifying about the modality to be adopted in Nepal, NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama said, "We will adopt the training method of our neighboring countries on the basis of success they have achieved. We will also call coaches of the respective games to Nepal." Lama however, failed to give clear idea about their implementation and the time frame for adopting of such model.
The meeting has also decided to hold the first National Junior Sports with 16 different disciplines and formation of school sports development board. However, it has not fixed the date for the event. "The date will be fixed after consultations with PABSON, N-PABSON and Ministry for Education," Lama said.
Among other, the meeting decided to punish the sports associations that have not settled the finances as per the law of NSC, start process to declare former wrestler and former South Asian Games bronze medalist Upendra Das Bairagi a martyrs.
Similarly, it has decided to endorse the mapping of regional level covered hall at all five development regions and district level covered hall at all 75 districts of the nation. The technical coaches of any event will also be allowed to be elected at any post of sports association after taking permission from the NSC.
Citing that the financial transactions of the Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan led Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) that is already declared illegal by the Supreme Court, the meeting decided to file case against the committee when required.
