“We have already placed the orders and the car will arrive here by the second week of March. We are very excited to launch Alto 800 as we have been receiving lots of enquiries for it,” said Karan Chaudhary, executive director of CG Automobiles.[break]
According to CG Automobiles, Alto has remained the largest selling car in both India and Nepal ever since its launch in 2001.
Alto 800 is better than the outgoing model as there are lots of changes made in the newer version. Customers can get Alto 800 in new looks with changes like new plastic intake system instead of aluminum, a new lighter crankshaft, a new cylinder head, new piston rings and a new gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki had launched the car in India in October, 2012.
With various changes and new technologies incorporated, the car delivers output to maximum power of 48PS at 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 69Nm at 3500 rpm which is an 11 percent increase compared to the outgoing model, said the company.
Better power delivery, increased torque output and new cable type shifter in the gearbox are the three major changes that customers can see in the Alto 800.
The petrol variant of the new model delivers a mileage of 22.7 km per liter, up by 15 percent compared to the older model. According to the company, the increase in fuel efficiency is due to increased compression ratio and improved volumetric efficiency achieved through improvements made in the engine intake systems.
The Alto 800 is equipped with various features like 3-spoke steering wheel, enhanced seat fabric and design, 15 mm higher roof and rear leg room enhanced by 15 mm, full wheel cover, body colored bumper, can holder, remote tail gate opener, coin holder, front power windows, digital clock integrated speedometer and internally adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVM), among others.
According to the company, the car will be available in six eye-catching shades -- frost blue, granite grey, superior white, blazing red, silky silver and torque blue.
“We will be disclosing the price only when we launch the model in the Nepali market,” said Chaudhary.
Though the company refused to disclose the price, the Alto 800 is expected to cost around Rs 1.5 million.
