Akhanda Bhandari's 'Malaya Express' released

KATHMANDU, Sept 10: “Malaya Express,” the debut novel by Akhanda Bhandari, columnist of ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ at Kantipur National Daily, was released at a program held at the Baneshwar Banquet of New Baneshwar last Monday.



Talking about the book, news presenter Radha Krishna Dhital said, “The book speaks of sadness, love and happiness of the Nepali migrants overseas, struggling to make a living." The writer has also put in experiences of Nepali people who have come back after much hard work in foreign lands. [break]



Similarly, poet Biplav Dhakal shared, “The novel also portrays the situation of Nepalis during the post-conflict period of Nepal. It not only depicts problems of the migrants but also offers the solutions to those problems,” adding, “The book is written in a simple language but has a rich content.”



Kuyang Lama, Chairman of the Yamburi Book Point, the publisher of the novel, opined, “Writers are the wealth of a nation. We should give them our utmost respect and appreciation. We feel really honored to have published Bhandari’s novel.”



The schoolchildren of Cambridge Public High School also performed a cultural dance on the song ‘Danfe munal jastai’ at the event.



NRN (Non-Resident Nepalis) President Jiba Lamichhane and acclaimed writer Madan Mani Dixit, among others, were also present at the book launch.

The novel will soon be made available in Malaysia, Qatar, and the UAE. It was also informed that the English edition of the novel will be available soon.
