9 new ministers swear-in

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: President Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday administered oath of office and secrecy to nine new ministers amidst a special ceremony at President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas.

Seven ministers from UCPN (Maoist) and one minister each from Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic and Bahujan Samajwadi Party took oath today.


From UCPN (Maoist), Top Bahadur Rayamajh took oath as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Shakti Basent as Minister for Home Affairs, Girirajmani Pokharel as Minister for Education, Umesh Yadav as Minister for Irrigation, Rekha Sharma as Minister for General Administration, Agni Sapkota Minister for Forest and Ganeshman Pun as Minister for Commerce and Supply.

Likewise, President Yadav administered oath to Ram Janam Chaudhary of MPRF-D and Bishendra Paswan of Bahujan Samajwadi Party. Both became ministers without portfolio.

Present on the occasion were Acting Chief Justice Girish Chandra Lal, Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Ministers, political party leaders, parliamentarians and chief of security bodies and chief and representatives of diplomatic missions, among others. RSS


No leaders from UML were inducted as ministers as the meeting of Standing Committee of the party held at Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar failed to finalized names.
