KATHMANDU, Nov 1: Seventy-eight former Constituent Assembly (CA) members from Nepali Congress (NC) on Thursday expressed their serious concerns over the party decision  to go for fresh CA and parliamentary elections.

Issuing a joint press release, the former CA members have said the party cannot afford to ignore political consensus and constitutional norms to end the current stalemate, protect democratic norms and institutionalize federalism in the country. [break]

Stressing on the primacy of people´s representatives´ say on state affairs, they have asked for the initiation of talks at political front for a brief revival of the dissolved CA by forging consensus on contentious issues of constitution writing.

The party´s central working committee (CWC) on Thursday had officially decided to go for fresh CA and parliamentary elections despite reservation from some senior party leaders including Sher Bahadur Deuba and Ram Chandra Paudel.
