According to the DPHO, three of the patients had died in Chitwan Medical College, two in Bharatpur Hospital and one in Chitwan College of Medical Science Teaching Hospital. [break]However, this report doesn´t include the deaths from viral fever in other hospitals and nursing homes.
“We were unable to save them. They had come to us hoping for a cure after undergoing treatment in various other hospitals,” said Dr Shital Adhikari of Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital. Among the deceased, only one was from Chitwan while the other two were from Nawalparasi and Gulmi districts.
Meanwhile, increasing number of viral fever cases has been reported in the rural villages of Kanchanpur district. A medical team from Patan Health Science Division has already reached Mahendranagar.
The medical team will visit the infected victims in Bhimdatta Municipality along with Suda and Daigi VDCs of the district on Wednesday, informed chief of Kanchanpur District Public Health Office Shivadatta Bhatta.
Bhatta informed that the number of viral fever victims in the district has exceeded the number last year.
“Every day more than 100 patients are being admitted for treatment,” said Bhatta.
He, however, said that the hospital has enough medicines for treatment.
Besides the hospital, private clinics are also teeming with patients. “Around 40 patients have been visiting us daily,” said Shiva Raj Bhatta, who runs a clinic in Mahendranagar.
According to Bhatta, most of the patients are children.
