Having devoted about a decade to the film industry, Garima started her career in acting from 'Chahana Mannko', a tele-serial. She says that she has always wanted to become an actor and it was her interest that led her to films. Also an active member in Youth Empowerment for Social Service (YESS), a collaboration of dynamic youth for public service, she is busy building temporary houses for earthquake victims.Taking some time out of her relief efforts, she shared with Republica five things about her that many don't know.
She is not much of a talker
Garima smiles a lot but talks very less. Talking to someone new is definitely not her forte, and she says she "tackles the situation" by simply smiling. "I feel like I communicate more with my smile. I'm more comfortable that way, and I enjoy the kind of rapport that it leads to," she shares. Because of her quiet nature, she doesn't have many friends in her circle. "I only have one true friend who I know since my childhood. And she's my favorite," she says.
She's afraid of Ferris wheel
She hasn't ridden in one for over a decade after going through a terrible experience with it once. She was enjoying the ride when she realized that a rope above her head had begun to entangle her hair. Her call for help went unheard amidst playful screams of other people. When the ride stopped, she found out that the rope was impossibly entangled with her hair, so the wheel had to be rotated again to untangle it. "That memory still gives me goose bumps," she shares.
She gives free ride to people
"If I see old people or women with babies waiting for a vehicle late into the night, I offer them a ride home in my scooter. More often than not, they don't even know it's me because of the helmet and mask. But I know that they're grateful and I'm happy to have helped them," she says.
She is emotional
This pretty actor is also very emotional at heart. Whether it's about reading books heavy with emotions or films that touch the soft corners of her heart, she can't help but burst into tears. "That's why I prefer to read and/or watch such films alone. All my friends and family know about this side of me and they often enjoy jeering at me," she says.
She enjoys writing
Quiet as she is, she loves expressing herself through written words. Besides composing poems and songs in her free time, she has also written and published several articles related to Nepali films and its protocols in leading national dailies. "I don't have a specific genre of choice when I sit down to write. I just write anything in whatever form I feel like. I also keep a diary where I write about special moments in my life," she shares.
