2 held on suspicion of murdering schoolgirl

JHAPA, Feb 4: Two persons have been arrested Saturday in connection with the murder of a 13-year-old school girl in Jhapa district. District Police Office (DPO) of Jhapa, however, has refused to make public the names of those arrested. Sabitra Rajbanshi, of Halidbari village-4 in Jhapa, was found murdered Thursday evening inside a tea estate near her home.



 Sabitra was a seventh grader at Haldibari Higher Secondary School. The tea estate where Sabitra was found dead is about 250 meters north of her home. Her father Kelisingh and mother Surji work at that estate. They are living in a hut provided by the tea estate owned by one Mohan Parajuli. Police suspect Sabitra was murdered after being raped.[break]
