“We, the members of Ujyalo Nepal, hereby declare that we have separated from the Ujyalo Nepal Party. We will continue to remain active based on ideas, values, and citizens’ concerns with immediate effect,” the statement said. “This decision should not be interpreted as support for or opposition to any political party, but rather as an exercise in civic consciousness and the pursuit of common interests.”
Other central leaders who have exited the party include Sujan Shrestha, Kushum Ghimire, Dr. Ghanshyam Pandey, Kshitij Bhandari, Dr. Sagar Dhakal, Netra Karki, Bishal Gaire, Sarala Lamichhane, Minraj Acharya, Razia Banu, and Devendra Shrestha.
Some of those who resigned share a background with the Bibeksheel Sajha movement. Earlier, actress turn politician Rima Biswokarma after UNP split from Rastriya Swotwantra Party (RSP) had decided not to join back UNP, from which she came into mainstream politics.
