14,101 families receive relief: Ministry

KATHMANDU, Sept. 21: Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction has distributed relief to as many as 14,101 families, who lost their family members during a decade long armed conflict in the country.



Each conflict-victim family was provided with Rs. 300,000, said the Ministry source. [break]



According to the record maintained in the Ministry, total 17,831 persons had lost their lives during the insurgency.



Similarly, 1,486 among 1,500 families disappeared during the insurgency have received relief to this date, said Dhruba Prasad Sharma, Secretary at the Ministry.



Speaking at programme organized by the Ministry on the occasion of International Peace Day here on Friday, Sharma said the Ministry has continued the process to provide relief to the conflict survivors.



Likewise, as many as 2,883 physical structures devastated during the conflict have been reconstructed and rests of the demolished structures were reconstructed through various 29 projects under the Peace Fund, Sharma added.
