WHO doc held over hijack threat

DANG, Sept 17: Police have arrested a doctor working for the World Health Organization (WHO) who allegedly threatened to hijack a plane in Rukum on Tuesday.



Dr Navin Ghimire, who had been to Rukum to study the recent diarrhea situation in the district, had misbehaved with the pilot of a Nepal Airlines plane that was heading to Salle, Rukum, on Tuesday. He was arrested from Salle Airport.



The police said Ghimire had threatened the pilot saying, “The plane can even be hijacked.” He will be tried under Public Offense Act, according to the police.
