KATHMANDU, Oct 13: The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection (DoC) has urged all concerned stakeholders to ensure that goods sold during the festive season carry a clearly marked Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
During its regular market inspections, the department found that many items — particularly those used during Tihar, such as bhai masala, copper and silver utensils, decorative electric lights, and other festival goods — were being sold without proper labelling or price tags displaying the MRP.

The DoC stated that it is making continuous efforts to maintain market balance and price stability by ensuring a fair relationship between demand and supply. It also emphasised the important role of trade associations, business communities, and consumer organisations in achieving this goal.
Consumers have been advised to purchase only those goods that display the MRP or a price list. The DoC has also requested the public to report any complaints through its toll-free number, 1137.
