Voter education camapaign in full swing

ILAM: In view of the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election, district election offices across the country have started voter eduction campaign from Wednesday. The campaign is aimed at educating the voters as 4.17 percent votes cast under first-past-the post and 2.78 percent votes under proportional representation system were invalid.



“Of the total 139,333 votes cast under first past the post (FPTP) electoral system in three constituencies of Ilam in the previous CA polls, 5,809 votes were invalid,” said District Election Office, Ilam. “This has made us cautious. [break]



We hope the voter education campaign would be helpful in reducing the number of invalid votes,” said District Election Officer Kamal Bhattarai. He further said that they have launched voter education campaign in all the constituencies of the district. “We have mobilized 18 trainers, including three women, in the district to train and educate the voters in the villages,” added Bhattarai.
