KATHMANDU, Feb 1: Nepal suffered a 7-wicket defeat by India at the final group stage match of the ICCU-19 World Cup played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Monday. With this defeat of Nepal, India emerged out to be the winner of the Group D stage match.
Chasing a paltry target of 170 runs set by Nepal, India reached the target in 18.1 overs losing just three wickets. Rishabh Pant topscored with 78 runs studded with nine fours and five sixes off 24 balls, Ishan Kishan made 52 runs including seven fours and three sixes off 40 balls while Sarfaraz Khan contributed 21 runs including two fours facing 23 balls.
In reply, Prem Tamang provided a little relief to Nepal by grabbing two wickets conceding 41 runs while S Lamichhane claimed one wicket giving away 29 runs.
Being invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal had made 169 runs losing eight wickets in allotted 48 overs. Sandeep Sunar topscored with 37 runs including four fours off 73 balls, Rajbir Singh made 35 runs including one four facing 68 balls while Prem Tamang contributed 29 runs including two boundaries and one six off 35 balls.
Nepal suffers 6-wicket defeat against India
Earlier, restricting Nepal to paltry 170 runs, India’s Avesh Khan took three wickets giving away 34 runs, MJ Dagar and Washington Sundar took 2 wickets each conceding 32 and 20 runs respectively. The match had been reduced to 48 overs as the match could not start on time due to thick fog.

The Nepali youth cricket team has already booked its berth in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Nepal had faced test-playing nation India in 2000 in which Nepal had suffered an eight-wicket defeat.
