Three trucks set on fire in Dhading

DHADING, Sept 21: An unidentified armed group has torched three trucks at Simle and Benighat of the district early Friday morning.



An armed gang of 30 to 40 hooligans, identifying themselves as former Maoist combatants, sprinkled kerosene and torched a truck that was heading to Kathmandu from Birgunj loaded with sugar at Simle after forcing the driver to stop at around 2 am.



The front part of the truck (Na 3 Kha 8837) has been completely burnt down in the incident, the Area Traffic Police Office, Gajuri informed.



The same group set another truck (Na 2 Kha 4616) loaded with beer on fire. They had also looted mobile phone sets and other goods from the trucks and a nearby car, police said.



According to the Benighat Police Office, a third truck (Lu 1 Kha 6023) loaded with cement was also torched in Benighat at around 3:30 am this morning.



According to Inspector, Hemanta Thapa, chief of Area Traffic Police Office, Gajuri, they have also recovered a red flag painted with sickle and hammer, the emblem of communist party, from the site.
