Satellite Hospital for mountaineers

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: A satellite hospital is to be established by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) at Kakani of Nuwakot district aiming to provide services to the mountaineers, trekkers and workers involved in the field of tour and trekking.

The satellite hospital, the first of its kind, would be of 200 beds and a total of Rs 550 million would be spent for the construction, the NMA said.


The central hub of the hospital would be based in the capital city while the services would be operated in the adjacent areas of major peaks and along the major trekking routes in the country.

The teams of specialists would be deployed in the satellite hospitals to cater services to the needy, the NMA said.

NMA President Ang Tshering Sherpa said that the hospital would provide services to the mountaineers, trekkers, workers affiliated to the mountaineering and trekking areas and the workers' family members.

President Sherpa said that such satellite hospitals would be established mainly in Kyangjing Gumba of Langtang, Samagaun of Manaslu, Muktinath of Annapurna trekking routes and the nearby areas of the major peaks.

Generally, the workers working in the field of mountaineering and trekking suffer from heart attack, paralysis, tuberculosis, altitude sickness and others. RSS
