Quake devastation should be seized as an opportunity: Poudel

LAMJUNG, May 5: Vice-president of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Poudel, has said that an integrated settlement development program should be brought for the long-term resettlement of the people displaced by the earthquake.

Vice-President Poudel stressed that the government should bring the integrated resettlement program in order to managing at least zinc corrugated sheets instead of tents.Poudel, who arrived here to enquire the situation of quake-affected people, urged all to make determination to convert the sorrow into power for rebuilding the nation.

He further said that the devastation, occurred at a time when political leaders were holding discussions regarding how to upgrade the country to the status of a developed country from the least developed country, has now diverted their attention on how to protect the people.

The NC Vice-president expressed the view that now all political parties, organizations and foreign bodies should be united and such devastation should be utilized as an opportunity through a campaign of reconstruction by supporting the government.

Poudel is in Tanahun, Lamjung and Gorkha districts for the past few days to enquire about the condition of quake victims and relief distribution. Poudel is scheduled to visit Gorkha after Lamjung. RSS
