KATHMANDU, Feb 3: President Ram Chandra Paudel has extended his best wishes on the occasion of Basanta Panchami and Saraswati Puja today, Monday. He expressed heartfelt greetings to all Nepali brothers, sisters, and children living both in Nepal and abroad, on the occasion of this festival, which is celebrated by worshiping Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge.
In his message, President Paudel stated, "Mother Saraswati is worshipped as the goddess of education, knowledge, and music. On this auspicious day, it is a longstanding belief that enrolling children in school and starting their education by learning the alphabet brings the constant blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Basanta Panchami is also an important occassion for music enthusiasts to worship mother Saraswati. People who wish to begin new ventures or perform auspicious tasks like marriage or rites of passage also choose this day, as it is a traditional time for such ceremonies."
He further mentioned that Basanta Panchami and Saraswati Puja are not just formalities but festivals that keep our lives energetic and inspire us toward new discoveries. He highlighted that these festivals help maintain unity amidst the country's social and cultural diversity and contribute to the preservation and promotion of our indigenous religious culture.
